Signs That Deserve Your Attention

Not every small change is insignificant. Some signs may be a message worth listening to.

In its early stages, breast cancer may not show any symptoms. That's why we recommend a monthly self-exam starting at age 20, and seeing your doctor if you notice any of the following:

  • A new lump in the breast or underarm, or a change in the size of an existing lump.
  • A change in the shape or size of the breast.
  • New, persistent pain in the breast or nipple.
  • Redness, flaking, swelling, or dimpling of the breast skin.
  • A nipple that turns inward after previously being normal.
  • Unusual discharge from the nipple.

Why Early Detection?

Early detection is the first line of defense and, God willing, helps to:

  • Significantly increase recovery rates.
  • Reduce the need for intensive treatments.
  • Preserve your quality of life and get you back to your day sooner.

When Should You Get Screened?

Every age has its own screening needs, and peace of mind starts with knowing the right time for you.
According to Ministry of Health recommendations:

  • Ages 20–39: Clinical breast exam every 1–3 years, along with a monthly self-exam.
  • Ages 40 and above: Annual clinical exam, and a mammogram every two years or as recommended by your doctor.
  • High-risk cases: Your doctor may recommend an ultrasound or MRI.
The Offer Includes:

Factors That Call for Extra Attention

Knowing yourself is the first step toward prevention.

Breast cancer can affect any woman, but some factors increase the risk and make regular screening even more important:

  • Advancing age.
  • Family history of breast or ovarian cancer.
  • Obesity and physical inactivity.
  • An unhealthy diet and smoking.
  • Long-term use of certain hormonal therapies.
