NICU

Every child deserves a smooth start in life. At the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Dr.Soliman Fakeeh Hospital, we are a leading center for neonatal care in Saudi Arabia. We provide high-quality care with a large medical team to provide effective and immediate management for our patients.

The unit attends to over 5,000 births per year or more.

Our main goals are to

  • Provide the best possible medical care with the latest medical equipment.
  • Support ongoing efforts to raise public awareness about neonatal health issues.

While we have made great progress in preventing birth defects and helping mothers avoid behaviors that may be harmful to their unborn children, unexpected events can lead to a baby needing medical intervention. Our unit is designed with specialized equipment and state-of-the-art technology to care for our babies with illnesses, regardless of how serious they may be, whether their birth was premature or on time.

Our clinical services include

  • Level III NICU: This is a critical care unit designed to care for premature or critically ill newborns.
  • Level II NICU: This is a nursery that admits premature or low-birth-weight infants (less than 1.5 kg) or newborns who were admitted as cases that do not require mechanical ventilation or central catheterization.
  • Level I NICU: This is a special care nursery where all stable newborn babies are admitted for initial evaluation and then discharged later to home with their mothers.

All of these levels are staffed by highly skilled healthcare professionals in all specialties, including

  • Pediatric cardiology
  • Pediatric neurology
  • Pediatric endocrinology
  • Pediatric infectious diseases

And other medical departments to address complications as soon as they arise. Pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and especially the specialized neonatal intensive care unit nursing staff have helped thousands of babies overcome life-threatening complications.

We at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital firmly believe in the natural healing power of parental touch and the importance of parent-child bonding in the critical early days and weeks. We encourage parents to participate and physically connect with their babies as much as possible while providing medical advice.

As the first healthcare provider in Saudi Arabia to be accredited and recognized as a Baby-Friendly Hospital by the Ministry of Health under the auspices of UNICEF, we support breastfeeding and provide a private breastfeeding room within the NICU where mothers can rest and stay in direct contact with their babies.

We are not just a hospital, but we also see ourselves as partners with families in making critical decisions and providing daily care for their children
