Dr. Bassem completed his medical training in the United States where he obtained a Master of Public Health in Healthcare Management from the Johns Hopkins University then completed his pediatric residency at the Children’s National Medical Center/George Washington University. Finally he returned to the Johns Hopkins University where he completed his fellowship training before coming back to Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Bassem has been a member of the teaching faculty at the Faculty of Medicine, King Abdul-Aziz University since 2009. After he returned from the US, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at King Abdul-Aziz University where he teaches medical students and medical trainees. He’s a member of multiple committees and taskforces there including the 5th Year Pediatric Curriculum committee, Quality and Academic Accreditation Unit and the Strategic Planning Unit.
