Minimally Invasive Surgery Ends Octogenarian Patient's BackPain at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital

The medical team at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital successfully ended the suffering of a patient over seventy years old, who had been enduring chronic back pain and difficulty moving for more than 15 years.

Medical examinations revealed a spinal displacement causing nerve compression, along with narrowing between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae, disc degeneration, and ligamentous calcification. These factors complicated her condition further due to her advanced age and osteoporosis.

The specialized team performed a minimally invasive surgical procedure to relieve pressure on the nerves while preserving muscle integrity. Additionally, an expandable cage was implanted and fixation screws were injected with bone cement to ensure stability and reduce potential complications.

The successful intervention resulted in the patient being able to walk on her own feet without pain, with a significant improvement in mobility and the ability to perform daily activities.

The medical team was led by Surgeon Dr. Khaled Abdel Shafi, with the participation of anesthesiologists, the nursing team, and physical therapists, as part of an integrated system aimed at providing advanced medical care according to the highest international standards.
