Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital – Jeddah received a case involving a 55-year-old patient who presented with focal seizures affecting the left upper limb, requiring a precise neurological evaluation to determine the cause of the symptoms.
MRI findings revealed a malignant brain tumor located in the right side of the brain, specifically within the primary motor cortex, one of the most sensitive areas of the brain due to its direct responsibility for movement.
Due to the tumor’s delicate location, the case represented a major surgical challenge, with a high possibility of postoperative complications such as permanent weakness or hemiplegia.
The medical team successfully performed a delicate surgery using advanced surgical technologies, including the surgical microscope, neuro navigation techniques, and continuous intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, to ensure the highest levels of precision and preserve vital functions.
The procedure was completed successfully, with total tumor removal achieved without complications, while preserving the patient’s motor functions. The patient was discharged after reassurance on his stable health condition.
The medical team included Dr. Moajeb Alzahrani, Consultant Neurosurgeon, accompanied by Dr. Mohammed Abu Heiah, Neurosurgery Specialist, Dr. Mohammed Abdullah, Consultant Anesthesiologist, in addition to the Neurosurgery Nursing Team.
