Studies
- After graduating from the faculty of medicine at Alexandria University in Alexandria, Egypt with a bachelor degree in medicine and surgery in 1985, Dr.Sawsan subsequently earned a diploma in maternal & child health Care in 1998 and a diploma in mental health in 2002 from the high institute of public health in Alexandria, Egypt. In 1999, she obtained a diploma in psychiatry from the high committee of medical specialities at the ministry of health and population in Cairo, Egypt. Furthermore, Dr.Sawsan received a diploma in psychiatric practice from the faculty of medicine at Ain Shams University in Cairo and King’s College London in 2003, followed by a diploma in health care & hospital management in 2008, which she swimmingly acquired from the American University in Cairo. In addition, Dr.Sawsan is board certified by the Egyptian board of psychiatry from the high committee of medical specialities at the ministry of health and Population in Cairo in 2006.
Work Experience
- Prior to joining DSFH, Dr.Sawsan held multiple roles at the psychiatry & addiction department at Al Mamoura Hospital for mental health and addiction in Alexandria, Egypt, climbing the ranks since she joined in 1998. She started as a resident in psychiatry at the psychiatry & addiction department in 1998, then as a specialist in psychiatry at the psychiatry & addiction department at the same hospital in 2001 and later as a senior specialist in psychiatry in 2006, before being promoted to serve as a consultant in psychiatry at the psychiatry & addiction department at the same hospital from 2009 through 2011. Prior to that, Dr.Sawsan began her career as a resident physician at the Maternal & Child Health Care Unit at the Family Medicine Centre in Alexandria, between 1987 and 1998.
