The medical team at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital – Jeddah has successfully performed its first knee replacement surgery assisted by the ROSA® Surgical Robot, marking a new advancement in the hospital’s orthopedic and joint replacement services through the adoption of advanced surgical technologies.
The surgery was successfully performed by Dr. Mamdouh Almassri, Consultant Orthopedic and Joint Surgeon, at the hospital’s Center of Excellence for Orthopedic and Spine Surgery. The patient is in good health following the surgery.
The ROSA® system is designed to support surgeons during knee replacement procedures by providing real-time data and measurements that help assess knee alignment and joint movement during surgery. This enables the surgeon to execute the surgical plan and make necessary adjustments before implant placement according to each patient’s individual condition.
The robot serves as an assistive tool for the surgeon, who remains in control of the procedure and makes all surgical decisions while utilizing the data provided by the system to support precision throughout the different stages of surgery.
The successful completion of the first procedure using the ROSA® Surgical Robot represents a new addition to the capabilities of the Center of Excellence for Orthopedic and Spine Surgery at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital – Jeddah. It also reflects the hospital’s continued efforts to advance its surgical services and adopt modern technologies that support the expertise of its medical teams and contribute to delivering specialized care in accordance with the highest standards.
